Privacy Policy
In short. Doorstep connects people in Los Angeles who need handyman, cleaning or catering services with independent local providers. To do that, we share the details of your request with providers who work in your area. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising. You can ask us to delete your data at any time.
1. Who we are
Doorstep (“Doorstep,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a service that connects customers and independent service providers in the Los Angeles area. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect personal information when you use our website at doorstep-la.online and any related domain (the “Site”), our Telegram bot (the “Bot”), and related services (together, the “Services”).
This Policy applies to customers who request services (“Customers”) and to independent service providers who receive requests through Doorstep (“Providers”). It should be read together with our Terms of Service.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you give us
- Service requests. The service you need, a description of the job, preferred date and time, budget, details about the property (for example, floor, parking or pets), and the address, ZIP code or district where the work will take place.
- Contact details. Your name, phone number, email address and preferred contact method, when you submit a request through the Site form or provide them in the Bot.
- Location. If you choose to share your location in Telegram, we receive the geographic coordinates of the point you share. We use them to determine your district and the street address of the job.
- Provider profiles. Name, phone number, the services you offer, your main and neighboring districts, the distance you are willing to travel, and any “about” text you choose to add.
- Ratings, notes and messages. Ratings and comments that Customers and Providers leave for each other, notes added to a job, and messages you send to the Bot or to us.
2.2 Information we receive automatically
- From Telegram. When you use the Bot, Telegram provides us with your Telegram user ID, display name, username (if you have one) and interface language. We do not receive your phone number from Telegram unless you choose to share your contact in the Bot.
- Service records. The date and time of your consent to this Policy, the requests you create, which Providers were notified about a request and when, responses, selections and job status.
- Referral information. If you open the Bot through a link that contains a tag (for example, a Provider’s personal link or a link from an advertisement), we record that tag to understand how people find Doorstep.
- Website data. Our Site is hosted on the Tilda platform, which may collect standard technical data such as IP address, browser type and pages viewed, and may use cookies required for the Site to function. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
2.3 Information from third parties
Providers may connect their own lead sources to Doorstep, such as their website forms, Google Ads lead forms, Google Local Services or Facebook Lead Ads. When they do, we receive the lead information those services send (typically the requester’s name, contact details and message) and deliver it to that Provider. We also receive publicly posted service requests from third-party marketplaces and forward their content to Providers in the relevant area.
3. How we use information
- To operate the Services: create and route requests, match them to Providers by service and district, show Customers the Providers who responded, and let both sides contact each other.
- To display ratings and job history that help Customers choose a Provider.
- To detect and prevent spam, fraud and misuse, including automated review of request descriptions.
- To send service messages, such as responses to your request, reminders about open jobs and notices about changes to the Services.
- To understand how the Services are used and improve them, using aggregated statistics.
- To comply with the law, enforce our Terms, and protect the rights and safety of our users and the public.
We do not use your information to send you third-party advertising, and we do not make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you based solely on automated processing.
4. How we share information
4.1 With Providers and Customers
Sharing is how the Services work. When you submit a request, we send its details to Providers who offer the requested service in your district, in neighboring districts, or within the travel distance they have set. These details include the description, date, budget, property notes, district and address, and, for requests made in the Bot, your name and a link to your Telegram profile. For requests submitted through the Site form, Providers also receive the contact details you entered so that they can reach you. When a Provider responds, the Customer sees the Provider’s profile, rating, completed jobs, district, approximate distance and phone number.
Providers are independent businesses, not our employees or agents. Once a Provider receives your information, their use of it is governed by their own practices. We require Providers to use Customer information only to respond to and perform the requested job.
4.2 With service providers who process data for us
| Category | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Telegram | Delivering the Bot and its messages |
| Cloud hosting provider | Running the Bot and storing its database and backups |
| Google (Google Sheets, Google Apps Script) | Receiving and storing requests submitted through the Site form |
| Tilda | Hosting the Site |
| AI service provider (Anthropic) | Automated review of request text to classify the service and filter spam. Only the request description is sent; it is processed on our behalf to return the result. |
| OpenStreetMap Foundation (Nominatim) | Converting shared coordinates into a street address. Only the coordinates are sent. |
4.3 Other disclosures
- Legal reasons. When we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, subpoena or court order, or is necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of Doorstep, our users or others.
- Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
- With your consent or at your direction.
We do not sell personal information and do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under California law, and we have not done so in the preceding 12 months.
5. How long we keep information
- Requests and job history made in the Bot are kept while your account is active, because ratings and job history are part of the Service.
- Leads forwarded from third-party marketplaces are deleted automatically after 60 days.
- Database backups are kept for up to 14 days and then overwritten.
- Site form submissions are kept in our request log for as long as needed to handle the request and for our records, unless you ask us to delete them.
When you delete your data (see Section 6), we remove your name, username, phone number, profile text, notes, and the addresses and coordinates of your requests. We keep de-identified job records, such as the service type, district, dates and ratings, so that other users’ ratings and statistics remain accurate. De-identified records cannot reasonably be linked back to you.
6. Your choices and rights
- Delete your data. Send the command
